Boy, 6, dies in accidental shooting in Clinton

CLINTON, Md. – A 6-year-old boy shot and killed himself Monday after finding a loaded revolver inside his home, according to Prince George’s County Police.

Police say the shooting, which occurred around 2:40 p.m. Monday, appeared to be accidental.

The boy found the gun inside a bookbag belonging to a 20-year-old man who lives in the home. The man is not related to the boy, police say.

Several other people were in the home when the shooting occurred, including two other young children and the boy’s great grandmother.

The child was taken from his home in the 6000 block of Arbutus Lane in Clinton to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No one else inside the home was hurt, police say.
