ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Anne Arundel County Council is expected to pepper Lt. Col. Emerson Davis, the deputy police chief, with questions Monday night about how the department reacted to County Executive John Leopold’s indictment for misconduct last month.
The indictment charges Leopold with using his police security detail to help hide his affair with a county employee, having the detail wait while he was with her in parking lots and using the security officers as political campaign workers.
The Baltimore Sun reports Davis accepted the invitation to speak to the council last week, but will not be put under oath.
Police Chief Col. James Teare testified under oath last Monday, but avoided many questions. Teare said his lawyer told him not to talk about any events that he had told a grand jury about.
The ACLU said Friday that it will file new public information act requests about the files Leopold kept on his political opponents. The requests came after Anne Arundel County Police Department released documents showing officers and staff researched the opponents.
