Miranda Lambert’s Pistol Annies round out fair’s lineup

Pistol Annies, the country music trio of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 to kick off the grandstand entertainment at the 150th Great Frederick Fair, according to the fair’s Facebook page.

The trio’s debut single is “Hell on Heels,” and they also recorded “Run Daddy Run” for the soundtrack of “The Hunger Games.”

Lambert formed the all-girl group — who all also happen to be pals and songwriting partners. The idea started during a songwriting session. Lambert recognized some of the songs they were working on were not right for her as a solo artist, but didn’t want to give them to anyone else to record. One thing led to another and Pistol Annies was born.

“Sometimes when you write with people, you don’t have chemistry at all,” Lambert writes on the Pistol Annies’ website. “But we have chemistry as friends, we have chemistry onstage, and we have chemistry in our writing.”

Ticket prices and the start sale date are to be announced.

Pistol Annies take the stage Sept. 15, followed by The Gaither Vocal Band on Sept. 16, two nights of truck/tractor pulling Sept. 17 and 18, the Demolition Derby on Sept. 19, Montgomery Gentry on Sept. 20, Scotty McCreery on Sept. 21 and Foreigner on Sept. 22.
