Howard Co. names Foose school superintendent

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. – Renee A. Foose, deputy superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, has been selected as the superintendent in Howard County.

She will be the first woman superintendent in Howard County.

The Howard County Board of Education announced the decision Tuesday morning, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Foose, 45, replaces Sydney Cousin, who is retiring from the 50,000-student school system July 1.

Another candidate who was among the finalists, S. Dallas Dance, chief middle schools officer for the Houston Independent School District, will become superintendent in Baltimore County, the nation’s 26th largest school district.

Dance, 30, now oversees middle schools in a system that is the seven largest in the nation.
