Occupy D.C. couple gets hitched at general assembly

WASHINGTON – Occupy D.C. showed off its soft side Saturday afternoon with an unconventional nuptial.

At their nightly meeting known as a general assembly, Occupy members approved the marriage of a couple who identify themselves on Twitter as Pocahontas and Hunter. The pair said they don’t recognize the state’s ability to legitimize their love and preferred to have their wedding presided over by fellow demonstrators.

The bride wore a dark bandanna as a veil and the groom sported a purple T-shirt.

After some jokes and kind words, the group voted in favor of the marriage.

But it wasn’t a spur of the moment thing. The couple had it on the group’s agenda in advance.
