Md. judges poised to get $29K raise

Mark Segraves, wtop.com

WASHINGTON – Judges in Maryland could get a $29,000 pay raise, unless state lawmakers step in.

Judges in Maryland currently earn between $127,000 and $162,000 a year, which is comparable to judges in other jurisdictions including D.C. and Virginia.

Judges in Maryland haven’t had a raise since 2005, according to the MarylandReporter.com.

If Maryland legislators take no action, the raise will become automatic in 50 days, but the raise won’t hit judges’ paychecks until 2014.

Most Maryland state employees received a 2 percent raise this year.
