Police release photo in infant death

WASHINGTON – In the hopes that someone will come forward with information about a newborn baby left in the freezing cold outside a Northeast home, Metropolitan Police released a photo of the striped towel the little girl was wrapped in.

The baby, who was black and about a week old, died just hours after being discovered.

Emmanuel Dugger found the unclothed baby on a step outside a home in the 3000 block of Channing Street NE Jan. 25.

The baby was unresponsive and Dugger’s father performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived.

The baby died at Children’s Hospital.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information should call 202-727-9099.
