Melody Records to close in Dupont Circle

Melody Record Shop, which has operated in D.C. since 1977, will close shop sometime this winter. The owners announced the impending closure on the store’s website, though a specific closing date was not given.

“While we wish that we could continue indefinitely, technology, the Internet and the economy has taken its toll, and we have concluded, unfortunately, that it is not possible to survive in this environment,” owners Suzy and Jack Menase said in a letter to customers.

Melody is located at 1623 Connecticut Ave. NW.
