WASHINGTON — Standardized testing is back on the chopping block as the D.C. Council takes up the question of whether to mandate SAT exams for college applications.
Council Chairman Kwame Brown will introduce legislation Wednesday that would require all public school students to take the test before applying to university.
Brown’s proposal raises questions about who would pay for the students to take the exams and whether or not it’s legal to mandate all students apply to college.
The councilmember says he is open to having the government pay for any fees associated with entrance exams or college applications.
