African amputees demonstrate nimble soccer skills

WASHINGTON — You could offer them a leg up, but these guys clearly don’t need it.

A recent soccer championship took place in Accra, Ghana hosting teams from across the African continent. The players demonstrated a finesse and fast pace of play that seems to rival most professional players.

However, these “futboleurs” only have one leg.

Ghana and Liberia squared off in the championship game of The African Cup of Nations for Amputee Football, an exciting match that was left to a shootout to decide the winner.

Check out this footage of the athletes who play to raise awareness for those with disabilities, despite not seeming anything less than “able” themselves:
