Trailer for Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ released

WASHINGTON – The full film’s release may still be a year away, but fans of J.R.R. Tolkien — and Peter Jackson’s interpretation of his work — are getting a long-awaited taste of the next cinematic journey into Middle Earth.

The teaser trailer for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” was released this week and shows scenes from Bilbo Baggins’ trek to Lonely Mountain to help a group of dwarves reclaim their treasure from the dragon Smaug.

And while Smaug himself doesn’t make an appearance in the trailer, those who watch to the end will get a glimpse of the ring that starts it all, as well as a character “precious” to “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

The film is expected to hit theaters next December. Check out the trailer below:
