AT&T stymied in asset sale talks

AT&T may abandon its planned $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA, The Wall Street Journal reported, because talks to sell off some of its assets have yet to reach fruition. AT&T could still try to fight the Justice Department in court, but some alternative to a complete merger seems more likely. That could include AT&T taking a stake in the smaller carrier or doing a joint venture to share network technology.
