Airline to link social media to flight info. to help find seatmate

UNDATED – Here’s a new take on taking a flight. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching a “meet and seat” service next year that will let you link your Facebook and LinkedIn profiles to your check-in information.

The idea is you would be able to pick who sits next you on the flight based on social media information, according to USA TODAY. Your information would be available to other travelers.

On a related note, Malaysia Airlines is coming out with a service on Facebook that lets you check whether friends are on your flight or headed to your destination.

What do you think? Is it a good idea to make your personal information public before getting on a flight in order to find a seatmate? Post a comment in this story, on WTOP’s Facebook page or on Twitter using #WTOPflights.
