Survey: Men OK with not being the major money maker

WASHINGTON – Apparently the 1950s and the days of “Father Knows Best” are over.

A new survey shows seven out of 10 men don’t have a problem with their wives making more money than they do. In fact, the guys are happy with the idea, according to research by Men’s Health magazine and Spike TV.

The survey also shows that 45 percent of men are very willing to be house-husbands if their significant other earns more money.

The findings show that times are changing for the better, says Adam Kessler of Northwest D.C.

“It’s too 1950s to think that the men automatically should be the breadwinners,” Kessler says.

It used to be a major taboo for men to make less money than women, but the survey finds there’s less peer pressure on guys now.

Kessler says he thinks making less money has nothing to do with a man’s masculinity, and a guy who thinks it does has other problems.

By the way, the survey also reportedly finds that only 29 percent of men think it’s OK to cry.
