SE-SW Freeway overnight closure

The 11th Street Bridge Project continues this week — Construction crews will block all lanes of the Southeast-Southwest Freeway between Pennsylvania Avenue and the 11th Street Bridge Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. The lane closures will allow crews to install bridge girders over the SE-SW Freeway for a new freeway bridge.

The following will take place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

  • Both directions of the SE-SW Freeway will be closed between the 11th Street Bridge and Pennsylvania Avenue
  • The 9th Street SE entrance ramp to the eastbound Freeway will also be closed
  • Anyone traveling eastbound on the freeway will be detoured to southbound South Capitol Street to the Douglass Bridge to Suitland Parkway to the Interstate 295 northbound on-ramp and then to Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Anyone traveling westbound on Pennsylvania Avenue SE will be detoured to southbound I-295 and then onto South Capitol Street to access the westbound Freeway, I-395, and destinations located via M Street SE
  • There will also be a single lane closure on the northbound lanes of 11th Street SE between L and K Streets
