New app helps you find nearby public transit

ARLINGTON, Va. – If you drive because you don’t think public transportation can get you where you need to go, you might want to check out a new app created in our area, for our area.

The web app, called “Transit Near Me” takes sometimes confusing and hard-to-use transit maps and combines them into a single interactive map.

Open the site on your smartphone, tablet or computer, click on your location, and you’ll see the nearest bus and rail options available to you.

The app was developed at the Mobility Lab, which promotes transportation innovation as part of Arlington County Commuter Services.

It’s still in the process of being built, but its developers want you to try it and give them your feedback so they can make it better.

So far, it includes information from Metrorail, Metrobus, D.C. Circulator and Arlington Transit.

Right now it is most useful in the District and Arlington County, but additions are planned.

For more information on how to use the app at the Mobility Lab’s website.

Any feedback or comments on the app can be emailed to contact@transitnearme.com.
