WASHINGTON — Has your bike, iPad or smartphone been stolen while you were in a Metro station, bus or train?
These robberies typically increase during the holidays and police are targeting the thieves with a few tricks of their own.
The agency’s crime suppression unit is using plainclothes officers with decoy bikes and electronic devices. Last month, they made nearly 50 arrests.
In order to keep, Metro police say commuters have to do something too: Stay alert and keep your tablets, computers, iPods, cell phones and other valuables where they can’t be easily seen or reached.
