WASHINGTON — A young Falls Church girl has been honored by a national writing mentorship organization for her contribution to literature.
Rachel Leonard’s story, “A Twisted Fairy Tail,” won third place and $100 in this year’s Young Voices Foundation short story contest. Her tale is of a beanstalk-climbing boy — aptly named Jack, and friends with the infamous Jack & Jill — and his adventure that begins with parental scorn that yields a “giant” training regimen, and a chance to rescue a princess.
