How do you pick the ultimate partner?

WASHINGTON — So how do you pick Mr. or Ms. Right?

Comedian Todd Sawyer says it’s most important to “trust your gut,” according to a HuffingtonPost.com report. He and his fiancee — a marriage and family therapist — interviewed several people and determined that a gut feeling is an important tool for survival.

But we are conditioned from an early age to use reason rather than our gut when making decisions.

“I was married for almost nine years to a good woman and we tried. It was our best effort and yet it still ended,” he wrote. “After my divorce, I spent a couple of years lost, hurt and confused. I started asking my buddies, then strangers about their relationship choices.”

“The answers were different, but the stories were the same. It didn’t seem to matter if you were a man or woman, what your sexual orientation or race was; the answer was the same: our pickers were broken. Some of the stories were funny. Some were sad. Most were both.”

Sawyer says the solution is as as simple as turning to your intuition.
