Police: Wheaton carjacking likely not related to other 3

WHEATON, Md. — Montgomery County police say a fourth carjacking in the Wheaton area does not appear to be connected to three previous incidents this month.

Police say the most recent carjacking occurred at the Burger King at 12265 Veirs Mill Rd. early Tuesday. No one was hurt.

“Two suspects jumped up from the table, produced a handgun, demanded cellphone, wallet and the vehicle, and drove off,” says police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks. “We believe it’s a crime of opportunity.”

Police are looking for a man in connection with the other three Wheaton carjackings. They released a video from Target of the suspect Monday.

“We are hoping that as this video is played that someone out there will recognize his face, the clothing, the way the man walks,” Starks says.
