VIDEO: Grandma tries Pop Rocks for first time

WASHINGTON – Remember that feeling of pure joy and excitement that came from trying something for the very first time?

There aren’t many new things left for most of us.

One 82-year-old grandmother rediscovered that feeling when trying Pop Rocks candy for the first time in her life.

Luckily, a relative with a video camera captured the moment and posted the video to YouTube.

Pop Rocks, produced in Atlanta, Ga., have been delighting mouths since the 1970s.

Spoiler alert:

The “pop” in Pop Rocks is a result of the small pieces of hard candy, which have been gasified with carbon dioxide, coming into contact with moisture. The crackling and fizzling is a result of the gas being released.
