WASHINGTON – Despite what we might think, Santa has other modes of transportation. For instance, sometimes he likes taking the train, especially in Virginia.

Tickets for the much awaited Santa Train are going on sale very soon — Monday at 9 a.m. and they are expected to sell out quickly.

“Since the demand is so high for these trains, we want to make sure that as many people as possible get a chance to some out and have fun,” says Mark Roeber with Virginia Railway Express.

In order to do this, tickets are being limited to six per person for most trains.

The ride takes place on Saturday, Dec. 10. And the Santa trains will be leaving from Fredericksburg, Manassas, Burke Centre, and Woodbridge VRE stations. They’ll be collecting Toys for Tots onboard and also at the stations.

“It’s very special and we’ve been able to collect thousands of toys and thousand of dollars each year,” Roeber says.

The proceeds from the Santa Train go toward Operation Lifesaver’s “Look, Listen and Live” campaign which promotes rail safety.
