Britain’s most blinged-out cheese features gold leaf

WASHINGTON — How much would you be willing to spend on a block of blue cheese? What if it was made with flakes of gold?

It’s called Britain’s most blinged-out cheese: Stilton made with flakes of real gold. In American dollars, it’ll run you about $80.

And, if you don’t want the whole block, you can get a single slice to put on a single cracker for just $8. That sounds reasonable, right?

Well, maybe not for most. But according to the Daily Mail, celebrities are already lining up to get a taste of the luxurious, gold-flaked delectable.

Long Clawson Dairy in Leicestershire plans to make a limited run of the flashy product this Christmas, and interested consumers include a Gulf-based oil sheikh and a famous pop star.
