Beat stress with a look at the bright side

WASHINGTON – Looking for a way to help beat all that stress? A little positive thinking can help get you back on track.

It’s an old saying, but experts swear it really does help to look on the bright side when you are stressed out.

Experts say something as simple as taking a deep breath and focusing on the positive can make a big difference.

It’s called “positive reframing.”

Rather than assigning blame when stuff hits the fan — which won’t fix anything — accept what happened and try to see the glass as half full.

And finally, a little laughter never hurt. Turn on a funny movie, check out some videos of cute kids or cats on YouTube and inject some humor into an otherwise stressful situation. And smile — it can work wonders.
