WASHINGTON — Soon, the days of fumbling for a credit card while people give you dirty looks for taking too long are over.
A new smartphone app allows users to pay in advance without even taking out a handheld device.
Square, a company that makes credit card readers for smartphones, is now offering Card Case, an app that allows people to pay automatically through their phones using GSP. The app senses when you’re near a participating business and transfers the necessary information to the merchant. Just give the cashier your name and voila! A receipt appears on your phone, all without using money or credit cards.
The app works at 20,000 businesses, and there are plans to update the Android version with the GPS component for hands-free payments soon.
